Technical Fibre Products (TFP) is a wholly owned subsidiary of James Cropper PLC. James Cropper is a specialist paper manufacturer founded in 1845 now employing some 500 people, operating in four divisions and selling products worldwide.

Technical Fibre Products was formed by James Cropper plc in 1985 on the same site with the strategic intention to diversify the company’s product portfolio whilst utilising the core competencies of paper making.

TFP manufactures nonwoven veils and mats for industrial markets from synthetic or mineral fibres such as carbon, aramid, ceramic, and glass. Production is based around two speciality forming machines which were derived from technology developed by James Cropper PLC. Our advanced production techniques enable modern fibres to be incorporated into mats and veils such that each fibre’s key performance characteristics are incorporated into the finished product.   TFP manufactures nonwovens from a variety of different fibres for widely varying markets. The company is recognised internationally in its own right and has manufacturing accredited to international standards such as ISO 9001 and EN ISO 1400. TFP Head Office is in Cumbria, UK with a subsidiary in Newburgh, New York serving North and South America. TFP’s customers supply finished goods for end uses as diverse as sporting goods and aerospace.   James Cropper

Typical exciting developments involving high profile industrial partners include the ultra lightweight carbon fibre tissues developed with Johnson Matthey Fuel Cells for the critical gas diffusion layer in proton exchange membrane fuel cells (used to generate 'clean' electricity) as well as a complete range of high temperature insulation papers supplied to Thermal Ceramics, a division of Morgan Crucible plc, for refractory and other industrial markets.
